What is Martensitic Grade Stainless Steel
Martensitic stainless steel is an iron-based stainless steel alloy (Type AISI 410 or WN 1.4006 or EN X12CR13), alloyed with Chromium and containing a certain amount of carbon. Usually the martensitic steel grades are hardened and tempered, thus resulting in exceptional hardness and strength.
The martensitic stainless grades are in general less corrosion resistant than the higher chromium austenitic stainless steels.
Composition and applications of Stainless Martensitic Steel
For AISI 410 steel, iron is alloyed with 12% chromium and up to 1.2% carbon.
Martensitic steel is used for cutting tools, surgical or dental instruments, elements for fastening, for gas and steam turbines and for press plates. The best known martensitic types of steel are the AISI 420 and AISI 440 stainless steels, specially to mention are: Chronifer M-15 X (431 X) and Chronifer M-15 KL (1.4123).
L. Klein SA is a respectable supplier of various qualities of martensitic steel. Here you can buy martensitic steel, even in small amounts, as coils and bars.
We also offer steel with special requirements (small diameters, intermediate diameters, narrow tolerances).
For Switzerland we provide a local delivery system, but we also supply our high quality steels to the entire EU and even worldwide.
