Machinability: Very consistent machinability and long tool life
Hardenability: Very good; wide temperature and time range during hardening, high hardness and a low risk of rejects. A hardness of approximately 850 HV5 is achieved after quenching.
Formability: Good; particularly suitable for long, slender precision components with tight tolerances
Cold forming: Very good; in particular, excellent cold-heading properties
Polishability: Good; the material is available in ground and polished condition.
Magnetism: Magnetic or ferromagnetic
Corrosion resistance: Poor; not corrosion-resistant
Applications: Finemac™ is primarily used for high-precision machined small components in precision engineering. Its main field of application is the watchmaking industry, particularly rotationally symmetrical components for mechanical watch movements.
